About Me

Hi! My name is Ryan and I’m a collector and pop-culture historian! I wanted to create a website to document my collecting journey and use it to interact with like-minded individuals.
I collect several things including Pokémon cards, sealed video games, rare books, and fine art. Holding physical objects from my childhood takes me back to a simpler time— a time when anxieties and stresses weren’t as pronounced as they are in adulthood. A time when the most difficult decision I faced was whether to choose Charmander, Bulbasaur, or Squirtle for my starter Pokemon ;) 
I believe we (90s kids) have lived through a time of amazing ideas and technological innovations. Two of my favorite media franchises— Pokémon & Harry Potter are perfect examples. Pokémon is now the most valuable media franchise of all time and it was made possible by advancements in computer technology. The idea of creating a video game where a six-year old can create an army of fictional creatures and trade/battle them with other kids is remarkable. Harry Potter is now the best selling book series of all time and has sold more copies than any other book excluding The Holy Bible. Both of these franchises have fictional worlds with millions and millions of fans. 
In addition to these two media brands, I love  video games. Some of my all time favorite games include: Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, Smash Bros, Backyard Baseball, Need for Speed, Star Wars Battlefront, Lego Star Wars, Uncharted, and many more. My favorite consoles include the Nintendo 64, Gameboy Color, GameCube, and the PSP. I have fond memories of playing these games with friends and family members; In fact, these memories are some of the most distinct and vivid ones in my entire life. I can tell you exactly what chair I was sitting on, what I was eating for lunch, who was with me, etc. 
The plan for this blog is to document my collecting journey (early childhood, late teen & adult), and then write about some of my collection pieces & the stories behind them.
